History Matters: Digital & Multimedia Histories

28 October 2021

I’m speaking—not live in person alas, but on Zoom—as part of the History Matters series organised through the State Library of NSW. The session will discuss the creative use of historical subject matter and oral testimonies in digital and multimedia contexts.

The event is being chaired by Dr Alana Piper, and as well as myself, the other speaker is Stephanie Arnold.

Plan of Experiment Street, 1881. City of Sydney Archives.

I am going to talk about two audio works I’ve researched and written for ABC Radio National’s The History Listen. Experiment Street, winner of the 2020 NSW Premier’s Digital History Prize, and first broadcast in 2019, and a script currently in production, Mrs C Private Detective, which will go to air in 2022.

History Matters: Digital & Multimedia Histories takes place on Wednesday 3 November from 5:30 – 6:30. You can find out more and register here. It’s free BTW.
