Home Cooking is a short radio piece, a comedy with a surreal twist. It’s been produced by 89.7 Eastside FM as part of their fourth season of Sonic Tales. Home Cooking is scheduled to air on 23 September during the Monday Arts program (10:30 am—12:00 noon) and on Friday 27 September during the Friday Drive program (4:00—6:00 pm).
Home Cooking is produced by Gill Falson, sound designed by Tegan Nicholls, and performed by Stephanie Lindwall (Min) and Stephen Penn (Max).
With the demise of ABC Radio National’s Airplay, radio drama in Australia faces an uncertain future—ironic when podcasts, online listening, etc. make it more widely and freely available. Let’s hope that when/if the ABC’s Creative Audio eventually happens it’ll offer new possibilities for writers and makers of radio drama/performance. In the meantime, all thanks to community station 89.7 Eastside FM for Sonic Tales and keeping radio drama alive and kicking.
