Random Red

26 August 2012

Happy news! My radio drama Random Red won the 2012 AWGIE Award for Radio (Original). It was produced in Melbourne by Anne McInerney, and broadcast on ABC Radio National’s Airplay program in April 2011. It’s one of a couple of recent radio dramas that I’m thinking about adapting for theatre. Anyway, this is what Random Red, the radio script, is about:

An autumn evening in Katoomba. Local librarian Clarice is nursing a broken heart—or thinks she is. Michael is a 50-something statistician who has had his fill of certainty. Random Red is about their chance encounter in the Blue Mountains. Using Isaac Newton’s 1659 Notebook as its springboard, Random Red is about Michael and Clarice, and the ricochets of that serendipitous meeting.
